Kanakadurga For

Panhalekaji Caves

Panhalakaji Caves are situated in the Ratnagiri district of Maharashtra state, about 160 km south of Mumbai, India. The cave complex has around 30 Buddhist and Hindu caves. The Hinayana sect began carving caves in the 3rd century AD, beginning with the stupa in the current Cave 5. The caves have inscriptions in Brahmi and Devanagari script.In the 10–11th century AD another Buddhist group, a Vajrayana sect, established cave 10 with their deities Akshobhya

It is located on the northern and southern sides of the Vashishthi river that later flows by Chiplun town. The Dabhol LNG power plant that had been set up by Enron is located on the southern side of Dabhol, between the villages of Veldur and Ranavi.

Keshavraj Temple

'Pandavkaleen' or existing since the time of the Pandavas, which literally means that it is about 1000 years old. The Keshavraj idol is worth the visit. Tourists have to first reach Dabkewadi, then cross a small river, and climb a steep little hill. The excursion can actually be enjoyed since the surrounding nature is beautiful. At the highest point, the fresh water found is nothing less than a wonder is said to be originating from a tree trunk!

Suvarnadurg Fort

It was considered as the pride or the "feather in the golden cap of Marathas". Built by Adilshah Navy for defence purposes, the fort also had a shipbuilding facility. The basic objective of establishing the fort was to counter enemy attacks, mainly by the colonialists of Europe and also by the local chieftains. In the past, the land fort and the sea fort were connected by a tunnel.
